TNA Board of Directors Report
In response to recent events in the Tennessee Department of Health related to immunizations, the TNA Board of Directors voted to support vaccine education and notification of vaccination schedules. These are necessary public health strategies to help to ensure a healthy Tennessee. The board also approved the revised ANA Immunization Statement as the TNA position on immunizations: https://www.nursingworld.org/~4ad2e4/globalassets/docs/ana/executivesummarypositionstatement_immunizations.pdf
The Board also discussed racism in nursing and supports sharing information gleaned from the ANA survey on racism and shared at a recent ANA Board meeting. Click HERE for relevant information from the PowerPoint. The first step towards addressing racism is self-awareness. TNA encourages nurses to take the survey on implicit bias that can be found at https://implicit.harvard.edu/implicit/user/agg/blindspot/indexrk.htm to begin self-change. We encourage you all to attend the educational session on racism planned for the TNA Annual Conference.
